Pantene Hair Care Review

Pantene Pro-V Logo

Thanks to MyBlogSpark, I was able to try Pantene’s new line of hair care and find out which kind is best for me.  I was sent a Pantene Scientific Hair Test Kit to become a “Pantenologist” and be informed about the new-formulated Pantene!  Pantene has spent much time and  money to re-formulate their hair products.  There are now four new kinds of Pantene lines:

Using my Pantenologist Kit (which even included an adorable lab coat and geeky  glasses), I was able to do several tests and determine the right products Pantene Thick Hair Testfor me.  First, I put my hair up into a ponytail and then compared the size of the diameter of it to this cute little coin they provided.   My kit says that if your ponytail is bigger than the coin, you have medium-thick hair.  Well, my hair is definitely medium-thick hair according this test!

However, Pantene also allows you to test for thin hair using thesePantene Fine Hair two pieces of paper.  You simply take a strand of hair and place it between the two pieces of paper on a flat surface.  Then, you run your fingers across it.  If you can not feel your hair between the paper, then you have thin hair.  I could feel my hair, so we know that I really do have medium-thick hair.

Next, you can run a test for curly hair!  You simply take a Pantene Curly Hairstrand of hair, get it wet and let it air dry.  Then, you place the hair on this handy dandy chart.   Depending on how your hair lays, determines if your hair is curly or not.  Mine is only slightly wavy.

Lastly, there is a test for color-treated hair.  You simply shampoo your hair and roll a piece of hair into a ball.  Then, you place it into a cup of water.  If your hair sinks in seconds, your hair is damaged!  If it manages to floats for 60 seconds, your hair is healthy!

From these tests, I determined that the right hair product for me is the Medium-Thick hair products!  In my kit was samples of each of the four kinds of shampoo and conditioner!  So, after the tests, I tried the Medium-Thick Shampoo and Conditioner for frizzy to smooth.  I am very happy with the results of the shampoo and conditioner.  It left my hair moisturized, smooth, and not heavy.  It also has a nice scent, I think.  I really like these hair products and my go out and buy some in the future.

I also wanted to share with my readers a chance for you to get to try the new Pantene products!  Simply click through to this website, register or sign-in and get a free sample of Pantene!  If you aren’t already registered with the site, I assure you that you should.  You can get new coupons and samples every couple of months from P&G though the site!

Neutrogena UltraSheer Liquid Daily Sunblock First Impression Review

Neutrogena Sunblock
Thanks to Tidal Labs, I've received a bottle of Neutrogena UltraSheer Liquid Daily Sunblock to try. This is the first of 2 reviews for it, where I'm going to share my initial impressions of it.

I've been using it for a few days now and really like it. I have never used a sunblock that made a noise when I shook it. The noise reminds me of a spray-paint bottle. I guess that's how it ensures that everything is mixed. Anyways, the initial scent of the sunblock is very light and airy. It's not your typical overpowering scent of sunblock. It goes on very well under makeup.

I like how easily the sunblock goes on. It's not greasy at all. It doesn't take long for the sunblock to soak into your skin. So far, I really like this sunblock. Keep watching for my second review of the sunblock.

In the mean time, there is a $2 coupon for Neutrogen Sunblock that you may use to try it for yourself.  If you have tried it, let me know what you think!

Would you like to review products, too? Then go to http://giantwavepool.com

Kerasal Review and Giveaway

Kerasal Foot Ointment Thanks again to the Product Review Place, I was given a chance to review something great.  This time, I got  to try the Kerasal Foot Ointment and Moisture Enhancing Sock!   Now, at first, you may wonder why I would want to review something like this.  It’s not a very glitzy product or of high value.  However, I’m a huge fan of flip-flops, especially during the summer.  This means that my feet tend to be dry and ugly.

So, when I find a product that claims to be able to make feet moisturized and look better, I get excited.  I have been using the Kerasal foot ointment and sock off and on for a few days now.  The product says that you should get the full benefits after 7 days.  Well, in my experience of just a few days, my feet are already smoother.  Since this ointment exfoliates and moisturizes, it gets rid of the ugly places fip-flops can rub on the bottom of my feet.

The socks aren’t the most comfortable things (they are a bit small for my size 10 feet), but I have been wearing for them for a few minutes after applying the ointment.  Immediately after applying and wearing the socks for a few minutes, my feet instantly feel softer and better moisturized!  I've been trying to put the ointment on before I put the rest of my lotion on and while reading or watching tv or something.  That way, it has more time to soak in and work its magic.  I’m kind of surprised by how quickly this stuff works.  My feet feel smoother and aren’t as dry.  This is definitely not to be confused with your typical “lotion” that just sits on the top of the skin.  It seems to really exfoliate and soak into the skin.  I really like it.  I may actually go out and buy some when I finish the tube I was sent to try!

Now, just in time for summer and flip-flop season…

On the road again… Guess where I’m going.

I’m happy to report that I’ve got something very exciting planned for next week!  Now, it’s not a giveaway (I know that is probably what you were hoping for, but I do have the Old Navy Giveaway going on for which I received nothing for), but it’s something I’m very excited about.  Thanks to the wonderful WeBlog Conference ladies, I had the confidence to contact some really nice pr for some amazing places that I’m going to be traveling to next week.

So far, I’ve got a one night stay at a very nice resort and a trip to something I’m just so darn excited about!  Yay!  So… before I announce my exciting trip, care to try and guess where I’m headed next week?

Here are some clues:

1.  I’m leaving on Wednesday and coming back Thursday.  So, you know it’s got to be within driving distance of VA.

2.  I’m EXTREMELY excited to go.  ;)

Any guesses yet?

3.  If you were one of the lovely ladies at the WeBlog Conference, you might be able to guess what I’m going to see on Thursday!  If you were not, then you might just learn something about me that you didn’t already know.  *hint hint*

Please comment and let me know your guesses!

Plus Size Costume Super Center Poodle Skirt Review

You may have noticed from my previous posts (or met me at the conference and noticed) that I am not a skinny person.  I usually have a hard time finding a costume that fits and is appropriate for someone my size.  I was very excited to find a website that carries plus size costumes!  The Plus Size Costume Super Center offers a wide assortment of plus size women's costumes!  I was equally excited to discover they were offering an opportunity to review a plus size pink poodle skirt

As you may also know, I am getting an Interdisciplinary in Social Studies and I love history.  I like the 50’s because of its unique fashion and could not wait to receive my pink poodle skirt!  Here is a picture of me wearing my poodle skirt!

Plus Size Pink Poodle Skirt

I think that it is adorable!  I like how it is pink in color and has a black poodle.  Here is a close-up of the poodle/leash.

Pink Poodle Skirt Costume

You can see how detailed and high quality this skirt is.  The dog sparkles a little in the light and so does the chain.  I like that the skirt is pink because that means I can wear a black shirt with it (I own lots of black shirts) and it will be easy to match this skirt with something.

Initially, I thought the skirt may be a bit itchy because of the material.  However, I can safely say that the skirt is actually pretty comfortable.  Although, that is something to be said about the 50’s fashion – they did not wear these tight-fitting and low-rising outfits.  The clothing actually covered everything.  I can also say that the shipping on this skirt was really quick!  I meant to have this post up sooner, but I got a little behind on it.  So, if you need a last minute costume, you can probably count on them!

Any woman would be proud to wear this skirt.  It is perfect for a sock hop or a Halloween party!  I can not wait to wear it out in public and let others see it!

Stand Up to Cancer “Up2 You” Video Challenge

UP2 You Video Challenge

In this day and age, I’m sure everyone knows someone who has or has had cancer.  My own grandmother is a breast cancer survivor.  That is why when I was contacted about posting the Up2 You Video Challenge, I knew I had to do it.  Plus, I know how my readers love to know about a new contest.

Cheryl and Company Bad Experience

You may recall that I once did a Cheryl and Co Review and Giveaway where I talked about how good their products were and how the cookies could actually crumble in my hand.  Well, having had a good experience with them, I thought it was safe to actually place an order with them (for various reasons).  I’m sad to report that I was wrong.

I placed my order on Friday (the 21st) and was delighted to be able to pick which cookies and brownies to get in my selection.  I understood that since it was late on Friday, they would not ship until Monday.  So, I was excited when I received a shipping confirmation via email on Monday.  However, there was already an issue.  Cheryl and Co. was shipping via UPS, which makes sense since it’s a perishable good.  However, my issue was that when I was checking out, the site made me enter a USPS address.  It would not allow me to enter my house address because it could not be verified by USPS as an actual address and I had to enter my PO Box to submit an order.

Well, the confirmation showed I would get my order on the 26th.  I just figured that the UPS thing was a mistake or maybe they had figured out my physical address.  I was wrong.  I waited all day yesterday and nothing ever showed up.  At about 9 pm last night, we received a phone call from UPS.  They wanted to know our house address!  So, my mom gave it to them (she was the one who answered the phone) and I figured everything would be ok after all.

Broken Cheryl and Co. Flower Cookie Well, I just received my shipment and am upset because of the condition of the cookies!  The picture above shows what I received after waiting an extra day and worrying about it.  3 out of the 10 cookies are broken!  That means that both of the Frosted Chocolate Buttercream Chip Cookies I ordered are in pieces!  Here is a picture of one of  them!  It’s actually the better of the two!Broken Frosted Chocolate Buttercream Chip CookieLook at my poor Famous Buttercream Cut-out cookie!  It’s supposed to be a cute flower!  Broken Buttercream Cut-out Cookie

Well, maybe I’m over-reacting a bit.  However, I feel let down considering the wonderful experience I had from them when I did my review and giveaway.  This is not what I expected from them and I just wanted my readers to know what may happen if they took my previous advice and ordered from them.

I’m just curious, has anyone else ordered from them?  What was your experience?

Update: Cheryl and Co. has contacted me to send me a replacement for my order. I must say I am impressed with the timely response and nice people working there! :)

Disclosure:  I did not receive these cookies for review.  I actually ordered them on my own and received no product or compensation for this post.  Although, Cheryl and Co. is welcome to try and make up for it to change my opinion.

Arm and Hammer Spinbrush My Way Review

Arm and Hammer Spinbrush

I recently received a Arm and Hammer Spinbrush My Way Toothbrush to review! I know that it's intended for children, however I had lots of fun decorating it! This brush comes with over 140 stickers to decorate with! As you can see, I enjoyed putting my name on the front of it, near the jeweled on/off switch. Here is a close-up of my name stickers and the switch.
Spinbrush My Way

I think the jeweled switch is a nice touch to this toothbrush. It makes it more glamorous. The My Way Spinbrush comes in multiple styles, so that everyone can find something that fits them. This brush also has a smaller brush head than regular brushes, so that it's easier for children to use (or adults with small mouths). This brush is also very economical. It costs $7 or less!

Arm and Hammer Toothbrush

Here is the back of my toothbrush! Isn't it colorful/cute? This brush should make brushing teeth fun for kids! I can honestly say I enjoy using this brush! The next time your child needs a cheap/fun toothbrush, check these out.

Novica Earrings Review

When I was contacted to do a post on Silver Jewelry from Novica, I was excited.   Novica is a fair trade artisan website who works with National Geographic to sell beautiful pieces (not just jewelry but home decor and much more) from many artists around the world.  So, I picked out two pairs of earrings for reveiw.
The first pair I picked out was the dangling dolphin earrings from Novica Thailand BoxThailand!  Here are some pictures of these beautiful things!  First, I want to share with you the great detail that goes into these pieces by showing you the beautiful box they came in!  Don’t you just love the touch of the little leaf?  I think it’s darling!  Now, on to the earrings!
Novica Dolphin EarringsAren’t they pretty?  I really like them because they have dolphins and I have always thought dolphins were beautiful!  I also like hoops.  This is like a 2 in one!  I think they are wonderful for summer!  They would go with almost any outfit and look nice.
I also got a very nice set of sterling silver swirling waterfalls drop earrings from Bali!  Here is the beautiful  and very ornate box they came in!  Isn’t that a very nice box?  Novica Bali BoxIt can be used to present the earrings as a gift or used for another gift.  It’s a very sturdy box that I believe has many uses!
Here I am wearing the wonderful earrings!  I chose these earrings because I think they are more dressy.  They would look wonderful with a dress or something like that.  With me being an education major, it’s always nice to find something cute to dress up an outfit.  These are a little bit longer than I thought they would be, but they are pretty nonetheless.
Novica EarringOverall, Novica offers beautiful pieces from several artists.   The shipping prices are a bit higher on some items than you might expect, but since the pieces come from other countries, it’s to be expected.  One of the pairs of earrings did manage to get lost via UPS on its way to me.  However, UPS straightened it out and got them to me.
I was a bit surprised when I realized that you can use only one gift certificate at a time when checking out.  However, that’s not a deal breaker or anything, I just thought it was worth noting.

Dove Daily Treatment Conditioner Review

Dove Hair Care

I received some of Dove's new conditioners to review! I was excited to receive these conditioners because Dove Hair Care products have been reformulated and have Fiber Actives that help heal the damage done to your hair. The products contain a Micro Moisture serum that protects and repairs your hair.

Glee for All SweepsUsing Dove's Most Advanced technology, these conditioners make your hair smooth! I used the Intensive Repair Conditioner on days that I straighten my hair and feel that it needs something extra to make up for the damage. This conditioner does feel a bit ticker than some other conditioners, but in a good way. It does a great job at restoring my hair's moisture!

I use the Daily Treatment Conditioner on days that I do not stress my hair. This conditioner feels light and airy. It gives my hair a nice moisturization that isn't oily. It doesn't weigh my hair down either! I think both conditioners have a light scent that isn't overpowering. Both conditioners do a great job repairing the damage I've caused to my hair. They make my hair shiny and healthy!

Room It Up Review with Giveaway

Room It Up LogoRoom It Up Logo

I discovered Room It Up and was impressed with their selection of dorm essentials and beach and summertime gifts. They carry stylish umbrellas, beach towel sets with tote, and school bags and accessories!

I received a lap desk in Botanical Flower to review! Isn't it pretty? These lap desks have been shown on NBC's "Today Show" on a segment of new school gadgets! They also had an appearance on the CBS show "How I Met Your Mother"! You can catch both of these spots at the link above!

Room It Up Lap Desk
These lap desks even come with a built-in cup holder! I've got a feeling I will use it a lot this school year to do homework in my bed. I also used my 17" laptop on it! The bottom of it has plenty of bead thingies that are very comfortable on my lap. I like how the top part is a hard plastic that is great for writing on.

It's a very nice lap desk in an attractive design. They carry the lap desk in multiple designs, all of which are cool! There is something for everyone! These lap desks are good for school children, college students, and anyone who needs to write something down or use a laptop! The desks can even be used for crafts/arts!

One eskimO CD Review

One eskimO

Thanks to the One2One Network I received a copy of One eskimO's cd to review. One eskimO's music has been featured on the TV show Bones and in a Toyota commercial. They've also been a Starbucks "Pick of the Week". They also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show!

One eskimO makes what I consider to be easy listening adult music. It's something I would put on when relaxing or working on a paper/blog post (I'm actually listening to the cd as I type this). Their music has a sultry feeling to it. I could imagine being at a Starbucks while listening to it or just sipping coffee in my own home. It might even have sort of a calming effect. It could be something I'd put on to listen to after a hectic day to unwind.

Here is a video clip of their hit "Kandi" for you to listen to.

One eskimO is also on tour right now. Click here for One eskimO Tour Dates. You can even get a free music download of their song "Astronauts" via twitter! Check them out! Let me know what you think!

COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast Review

Covergirl Logo

Thanks to BzzAgent, I received the new Covergirl Smoky Shadowblast Eyeshadow! It's two colors in one thing! The colors included in each go well together. It makes creating the smoky eye very easy.

Covergirl Smoky Shadowblast Eyeshadow tips

The different ends are even numbered to let you know which one to use first! Simply use the first color all over and then use the second on the crease of your eye lid and above the lashes!  Here is what my eye looked like when I followed their simple tips and used the Smoky ShadowBlast!

Covergirl Blast Eye Shadow

I think it looks ok. I don't know if I would use it everyday. However, it gives you the two colors without having to carry two separate products. I think it would be great for this summer when you go on vacation!

I also received the Shineblast LipGloss to try. I was very pleased with the applicator in this product. It makes applying the gloss really easy. It makes my lips shiny and not sticky. It gives only a very subtle hint of color that doesn't compete with the eye shadow. Both products go well together.

We Blog Conference Was Awesome!

We Blog Conference Badge

So, I'm back from the We Blog Conference and thought I ought to do at least one post about it! I must say it was really fun and I learned TONS! I mean tons! I can't wait to start implementing everything I learned at the conference. For instance, I will no longer change the title of a post to indicate that the giveaway is over. I will simply note it in the giveaway's post. If you noticed, I've even gone back and corrected every single giveaway post as such! Woot! Go me! I hope to make other changes to Laughing Lindsay in the near future.

I want to thank everyone from the conference, especially Shanaka at Thrifty Mama B (she drove me) and co-founders Kelli of 3 Boys and a Dog and Jyl at The Post-It Place. They are all so nice and funny! I also want to send a shoutout to my roomie Earl's Daughter, CJ!

Everyone at the conference was super nice and funny! Although, I didn't talk too much, I really enjoyed it. ;) It was great getting to meet all of you! I hope everyone made it home safely and had a good time! I also thought I'd share a few pictures with my readers.

Here is Elvis! We saw him at McDonald's in Pigeon Forge!

Breyer's YoCrunch Yogurt Review and Giveaway

Breyer's YoCrunch 100 Calorie Yogurt

Thanks to the Product Review Place, I was given a chance to review the Breyer's YoCrunch 100 Calorie Yogurt! This nonfat yogurt contains a blend of sugar and a natural sweetener to make it tasty and only 100 calories! Breyer's makes a variety of these yummy yogurts, including:

o Cheesecake Yogurt with Graham Cookie Pieces
o Vanilla Yogurt with Chocolate Chip Cookie Pieces
o Strawberry Yogurt with 100% Natural Low Fat Granola
o Vanilla Yogurt with Chocolate Crème Cookie Pieces

Breyer's YoCrunch Yogurt

They are available in four-packs so you can eat some now, and some later! They retail for between $2.99 and $3.19. I received the Vanilla Yogurt with Chocolate Cookie Pieces to try! I really like it! It reminds me of Oreos! My mom loves Oreos and I guess I could have shared my four-pack with her. However, I thought they were so good that I ate them all! I would feel bad, but they are only 100 calories. So, that seems to make up for it in my head. Haha! This yogurt keeps up Breyer's reputation for making great tasting food! I'm sure these will be a hit this summer especially!

Invictus DVD Review

Invictus DVD

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Invictus to review. Invictus is about Nelson Mandela, after he became president of the much divided country of South Africa. The movie shows Nelson (played by Morgan Freeman who was nominated for an Oscar for this role) trying to reunite the country through the country's rugby team. Nelson urges his country to forgive each other and work together. Mandela speaks to the national rugby team captain (played by Matt Damon who was a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee) to lead his squad to win the World Cup and thus uniting his team and the country.

Here is the Invictus Movie Trailer.

As you may be able to tell, Clint Eastwood (who was named 2009’s Best Director by the National Board of Review) directed the film. I think this movie has the "feel" of Clint's other movies. Things flow nicely together and it's an uplifting story. I really enjoyed this movie. It is touching, exciting, and wonderful. I also enjoyed seeing some cute kids in the movie when the rugby team does some coaching clinics with the local children. It is a really good movie.

Invictus is now available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, On Demand and for Download!

Check it out and own it on DVD now. You should also sign up to get the inside scoop on WB movie & DVD releases with WB Reel News!
