Cool-Jams

Cool Jams Pajamas

I received the Vanessa pajamas pictured above from Cool-Jams! These pajamas are really soft and comfortable! "Cool-jams wicking VANESSA 2-piece pajama set with long pant bottoms and matching short sleeve top with contrast trim. This popular PJ style will keep you cool, dry and comfy all night. Our quick drying, silky soft moisture wicking smart fabric wicks away moisture to provide stylish relief to night sweats and hot flashes. Cool-jams fabric has a super soft cotton like feel with wicking ability that never washes out. In fact, the wicking action is scientifically woven into the fabric itself."

My only complaint is that it's a little thinner than what I'm used to (I typically wear mis-matched shirt and pants/shorts to bed). However, they are really nice and they aren't too thin.

WIN! THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED!

Cool-Jams is offering one Laughing Lindsay reader a pajama or nightgown of their own!

To enter: Go to Cool-Jamsand tell me what your favorite product is.

(Make sure your email address is in the comment or is easily accessible via your blog profile or blog itself. I need to be able to contact you!)

OOBonomics

OOBonomics Book

The creator of ThinkOOB has written a book that contains 12 Outside Of the Box economic ideas! One of which is the ShopAmerica gift card which sounds like a great idea to me! It also includes an idea on using your 401(k) to pay off credit cards.

The goal is to come up with ideas to help the economy. All of the OOBonomic ideas are:

*Originial
*Free
*Focused
*Voluntary
*Transparent

The great thing about this book is that Al Lewis (the author) gives the readers a chance to come up with their own ideas to be featured in another book and to win money! If you can come up with an idea that fits the above requirements, you can win alot of money! Al Lewis is offering a $1 million reward for the first economic idea published on his website ThinkOOB, to get into national plicy and $500 for any idea used in the next edition of OOBonomics!

Al Lewis wants us to start think Outside of the Box to fix our current economic woes. He encourages everyone to get creative and post comments (which can earn you $20)!

If nothing else, the book provides a few laughs. James Carville said, "OOBonomics has provocative, original ideas for everyone - Democrats and Republicans alike. Lewis explains them with humor and clarity, and with short enough words that even George W. Bush would understand them."

Sephora's Leslie Blodgett Perfume Diaries: Bare Skin

Lesli Blodgett Perfume

Inspired by entrepreneurial powerhouse Leslie Blodgett’s dynamic life, Leslie Blodgett Perfume Diaries is a limited edition fragrance collection, created exclusively for Sephora, that revisits and evokes pivotal moments in Leslie’s life. Having kept journals since she was a young girl, Leslie has captured the essence of every trip she has taken through the pages of her journals. With the release of its first fragrance Bare Skin on 10/08, these pages have been brought to life through scent, enabling Leslie’s ardent fans to walk a fragrant mile in her shoes.

Bare Skin, the first scent in the series, is reminiscent of an experience during a trip to Mexico, where Leslie cart-wheeled fancy-free down a sunny beach while emanating true, unbridled joy. “When I have an experience, I like to have a scent behind it. Bare Skin, which is what Mexico reminds me of, is the way you feel when the sun is beating down on you during the day, but then you go out at night and you’re still sizzling from the warmth of the day which mingles with the night air and the music.”

“Glowing, sun-kissed skin has the power to turn heads. I wanted to recreate that attractive force with notes that draw you in: creamy sensuality, caressing florals and uninhibited musk,” says Stephen Nilsen, the celebrated Givaudan perfumer who helped concoct Bare Skin. “With Bare Skin, you will find yourself basking in the sun, with your feet in the sand, after one spritz.”

Bare Skin is being offered in:

Bare Skin Eau de Parfum 1.7oz ($55): With emotional undertones throughout, the scent takes you from day to night with top notes of Black Pepper, Freesia and Anise that evoke the morning breeze coming through the window and the anticipation of the day ahead. The heart notes of Iris, Vanilla Orchid, Plumeria and Patchouli conjure walking to the beach and being on hot, hot sand. While the dry down notes of Sandalwood, Labdanum and Musk tell of the soft, sexy chatter between couples and the music that surrounds. Leslie recommends spraying the fragrance on your pulse points and behind your neck – the heat from these areas will permeate the scent with every breath.

Bare Skin Solid Perfume Compact ($35): This pocket watch captures a moment of time in Leslie’s life and interprets it into a heady scent. Dab on pulse points for the ultimate exhilaration.

Bare Skin Perfumed Body Cream ($30): To perfectly compliment the fragrance, a luxurious body cream has been created. To extend the fragrance sensation, apply the hydrating body cream after showering and follow with a fragrance spritz near your heart.

I received a sample of the perfume to try. I must say, I've never smelled anything like it! It makes me wish it was summer again! I think it would make a great gift for holidays (it makes me think of warmer days and places).

Bare Skin can be purchased at: Sephora!

I also wanted to let my readers know that Leslie will be making two (2) in-store appearances this week to celebrate the launch of her exclusive new fragrance collection, Leslie Blodgett Perfume Diaries!

If you’re going to be in NYC on 11/18, you can meet Leslie at Sephora Times Square!

If you’re going to be in Tampa on 11/19, you can meet Leslie Blodget at the Sephora International Plaza!

Disclaimer: I received a free sample of the perfume for this review and that is all.

Sex Scandal America

Sex Scandal America Book

I recently received a book to review titled, "Sex Scandal America." Seeing as how I love history I was excited to read this book and to get an understanding of how sex and scandals have changed (or not) over the course of America's history. I found this book to be very interesting. I had no idea that there were so many scandals in America, muchless so early! I have always heard that my generation is so bad and that there is too much sex. However, I believe whomever says this needs to read this book!

For the most part, we Americans haven't changed much as far as having sex and scandals. What has changed is the way we treat scandals and those involved. In the past people were embarrassed when they were caught in a scandal and didn't usually talk about. However, now, scandals are used for entertainment for the public. I would suggest this book to anyone interested in history or politics.

I don't want to giveaway too much juicy info from the book so, I'll leave you with this quote on the book:

"Did you know President Warren Harding had a bastard child and his wife was rumored to have poisoned him while he was still in the White House? Some political sex scandals of the past make today’s scandals look tame. David Rosen’s new book Sex Scandal America: Politics and the Ritual of Public Shaming not only chronicles these scandals but puts them in the context of political history. The book also discusses pre-revolutionary scandals, including Pocahontas, Thomas Jefferson’s sex scandal involving a slave who was also his wife’s half sister, the scandals of JFK, Bill Clinton, and other major politicians. There are also predictions that more states will adopt same sex unions, that the military will get rid of its Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell policy, and that abstinence only sex education will be replaced with safe sex education."

It can be purchased on Amazon.

Gypsy Soule Necklace

Gypsy Soule is owned by two women, Lorinda Graham-Van Newkirk and Amy Moorhouse. "Lorinda and Amy plan to build upon the core of Gypsy Soule — "products for women, designed by women." The collaboration began with friendship and a mutual work experience. Both bring various pieces of experience to the design table and plan to bring fresh, new items to the mainstream and western retail industry."

They are known for their beautiful flip-flops but make much more than that. I received one of their necklaces for review! I was sent the Hammered Cross Necklace!

Gypsy Soule Necklace

I just love Gypsy Soule's use of color in this and their other pieces! Some of the other wonderful features include:

* Smooth and simple cross brought to life by an embellished chain

* 20” in length

* Inspired by turquoise, amethyst and citrine stones

* Stones are separated by small ½ inch matching crosses

* Adjustable hook for additional lengths

* Antique Base Metal

This is a truly beautiful and interesting necklace! I feel like their website does an excellent job of describing their pieces:

"Much more than just a shoe or a piece of jewelry, Gypsy Soule® products express an emotion. To offer products that lead, rather than follow; define elements of personality; and make women feel good about themselves is the goal.

Come with us and unleash your SOULE."

All of the Gypsy Soule pieces are wonderful, but I really like the use of turquoise in this necklace. I also like how it has one big cross and several smaller crosses! Now, I just need to find an outfit good enough for it!

Disclaimer: I received the necklace for this review.

We Love Colors Tights

We Love Colors Logo

We Love Colors offers multiple colors of tights in all sizes! I received two pairs to try! I must say these tights are wonderful! They are super soft and stretchy! I can tell that these tights are made to last, they won't rip as easily as other pairs. I appreciate that they make all sorts of sizes, so there's a pair for everyone! They also have an array of colors (50+)!

Next time you need a new pair of tights (it is getting colder) check out
We Love Colors! They also carry other products, such as leggings, and dance wear!

Disclaimer: I received two pairs of tights for this review.

Revlon Fantasy Lengths

Revlon Fantasy Lengths Lashes

Revlon has several great lines of eyelashes available in drugstores. There are several styles of glue-on eyelashes available for those who prefer to use glue. For those who want something a little easier to apply, Revlon’s self-adhesive eyelashes are perfect! They require no messy glue, are very easy to apply, and are latex-free, which means they’re gentle on the eyes. Styles range from natural to glamorous, so you can choose the eyelash that completes the look you’re going for.

I received several packages of these eyelashes to try. I've always been reluctant to try fake eyelashes because of the mess and I was afraid of what they would look like. However, I really liked these:

They are the self-adhesive ones! These are perfect for me because I don't have the patience or time to deal with applying glue. These are really easy to apply and makes no mess! They even come with extra self-adhesive strips! The lashes are also pretty easy to get off!

I also like these because they are one of the more simple ones. It's appropriately called "Defining." It gives me more length and volume! Next time you need fake eyelashes, I would definitely recommend the Revlon Fantasy Lengths! They would be perfect for the holidays and parties!

Disclaimer: I received Revlon Fantasy Lengths for this review.

The Job Coach for Young Professionals & Giveaway

The Job Coach for Young Professionals Book

I received a copy of "The Job Coach for Young Professionals: The Workbook You Need to Land the Right Job" by Susan Kennedy and Karen Baker.

"College grads have a tough time in the workforce: the turnover rate is 64% in the first three years of employment. Why? College grads can get a job but they aren’t getting the right job. They also don’t realize that finding the right job is a life skill that can be used throughout their professional lives.

Now there is a resource for finding – and keeping – that dream job: The Job Coach for Young Professionals.

This interactive guide begins (Assess Myself) with a complete self assessment of skills, interest, work values. The reader will learn who they are, what they’re good at and how this translates into the right job. The second section, Prepare Myself, helps the reader prepare for an interview, from the answer to “Tell me about yourself” through those tough interview questions and salary negotiations. The third section, Sell Myself, teaches the reader how to conduct an effective job search. Even the most timid of readers will perfect the skill of networking, the right way to use a job board in a job search as well as how to plan and execute a successful search.

The fourth section, entitled Succeed gives practical advice on how to prepare for the first day and how to manage your career."

I really enjoyed the Assess Myself section. I discovered that my top five skills were: Research, Counseling & Serving, Organizational, Training & Consulting, and Administrative. I was not surprised by my two lowest skils: Building/Mechanical and Creativity. I also learned my top five interests: Counseling & Serving, Organizational, Training & Cousulting, Interpersonal, and Administrative. I was surprised that my top skill was Research because I'm so tired of doing research papers! However, I guess it makes sense after thinking about how much time I spend on the Internet and reading. I was also surprised with Administrative skill and interest, I hadn't expected that one.

This workbook is great for anyone trying to find a job, not just your first one! I believe this is a great thing to have around right now because of the economy and the competitive job market. I like how the workbook even gives the reader advice for the interview and after wards. I appreciate it giving examples of Thank You letters, which I believe there aren't enough of these days! I also liked the examples of a Resume and Cover Letter! This is a wonderful book for recent graduates, soon-to-be grads, and those just looking for a different (and better) job.

Eating Animals Review

Eating Animals Book

I received a copy of a book that came out today to review! It is EATING ANIMALS by Jonathan Safran Foer.

"Brilliantly synthesizing philosophy, literature, science, memoir and his own detective work, Eating Animals explores the many fictions we use to justify our eating habits-from folklore to pop culture to family traditions and national myth-and how such tales can lull us into a brutal forgetting."

Jonathan has been wavering on being a vegetarian for most of his life. However, once his son was born he decided it was time to do some research on the animals we eat. Johnathan Safran Foer shares his adventures of this research in his new book, Eating Animals. I love how every chapter begins with an interesting fact, like "Americans choose to eat less than .01% of the known edible food on the planet." I also like that Johnathan includes stories from other people who are involved with different aspects of animals and eating them, from a Vegetarian Rancher to a Factory Farmer. He tries to give the reader every side of the story.

Since doing his research Johnathan has become a vegetarian. The book did not persuade me to be one, but I found the book to be a very thought-provoking in-depth story. I really liked how he challenged what we normally think about animals, like man's best friend. It is a good read that makes you think!

Weight Watchers by Whitman's Candies

Weight Watchers by Whitman's Candies

I received some of the Weight Watchers by Whitman's Candy to try for a review. I got the Pecan Crowns! I tried them with my dad because he usually likes nuts and candy like this. We both enjoyed them! I really like the caramel and chocolate! Dad had to limit himself to just one because we were getting ready to eat dinner. However, I can assure you that he could have eaten the whole bag!

Don't forget! You can win a bag of your own candy by entering the Laughing Lindsay Weight Watchers Candy Giveaway that ends tonight! Trust me, the lucky winner will be very happy!
